Georgia National Fair in Perry, Ga
Exciting News!
I’m honored to share that my painting Harmony in the Storm has been accepted into the Georgia National Fair! 🎉
This piece was inspired by my daughter during her summers as a lifeguard. On stormy days, when the beach was empty and the skies turned gray, she would sit under the shelter with her ukulele, singing, strumming, and finding calm in the chaos. That quiet moment of resilience and beauty is what I hoped to capture in this watercolor.
If you’re visiting the Georgia National Fair, I’d love for you to stop by and see it in person!
Wallpaper Murals
One of my favorite creative outlets is bringing big, beautiful art into everyday spaces through murals, especially wallpaper murals. They instantly transform a room and make a bold statement.
Here’s one I recently installed on a feature wall that will soon have a bed in front of it. I love how it sets the mood for the entire room and creates a unique backdrop that feels like a piece of art in itself.
My love for watercolor painting naturally flows into this work, whether on canvas or across a wall, I’m inspired by the same sense of color, harmony, and storytelling.
Clever Solutions for Feature Walls
Wallpaper murals aren’t just for living rooms or bedrooms, they can brighten up unexpected spaces too. I recently installed this bold floral mural in a laundry room that doubles as a dog spa, instantly turning it into a space that feels fun and uplifting.
One challenge with this feature wall was that a washer and dryer tower would sit directly in front of one of the flowers. The solution? Add a strip of the same wallpaper along the side of the appliance tower. This trick helps the appliances blend into the wall so the mural remains the focal point of the room.
Little design choices like this make a big difference when creating feature walls, allowing the artwork to shine while keeping the space both functional and beautiful.

About Me
I grew up in Washington County, Georgia, surrounded by creativity, ingenuity, and joy. My grandfather—my greatest hero—was an electrical engineer, inventor, and musician. He could fix or build anything, from automatic water bowls for our pets to custom pulley systems for our boats, long before such conveniences were common. He never had a music lesson, yet could pick up any instrument and play beautifully, a gift that has been passed down to one of my daughters. He always carried a bright smile and a genuine warmth that made everyone feel welcome.
My mom had that same spirit. She was endlessly creative, filling our home with beauty, through decorations, fresh flowers, delicious meals, and her larger-than-life personality. She never met a stranger, and she taught me that creativity is not just about making things, but about sharing joy with others. Both she and my grandfather instilled in me the foundation of who I am today.
Encouraged by wonderful art teachers throughout my school years, I followed my passion into a degree in Printing Management at Georgia Southern University, which grew into a career in graphic design. Over 20 years ago, I started my first company, Hummingbird Graphics, which continues to thrive today. When I chose the hummingbird for my logo and name, it wasn’t just for its beauty, it has always been my spirit animal. The hummingbird symbolizes joy, vitality, resilience, and adaptability. It reminds us to find happiness in the present moment, to face challenges with grace, and to move through life with lightness. Its ability to fly in any direction signifies both flexibility and courage, the willingness to revisit the past without getting stuck there, and the energy to keep moving forward.
Now, with Hummingbird & Hues, I’m branching out into a new chapter, returning to my roots in painting and creative design. Today, my focus is on watercolor art, where I tell stories and preserve memories through delicate strokes and vibrant hues. I also bring that creativity into the home with wallpaper murals, cabinet transformations, and reinvented furnishings. In many ways, this new venture carries forward my mom’s creativity and my grandfather’s inventiveness, while staying true to the lessons of the hummingbird: persistence, adaptability, and the joy of living in color.
